History of the House

Delan, Lord Anderon
Born: 3470

Delan was the second son of the late Lord Anderon (a notorious tyrant).  At the age of sixteen, he was sent to Aquila's seminary to become a priest. Many were surprised that Lord Anderon appeared prepared to dispose of his son so easily - most expected that he would make more use of him in running the vast Anderon assets (for example, the Anderon Bank, the main bank on Aquila).

Delan remained in the seminary for five years.  When, however, his elder brother Drostin was killed in an accident on Earth (where he was studying), Delan left the seminary and took Drostin's place as the Anderon heir.  By this time he was also the brother of the Duchess of Aquila, Nira Anderon. However, the two appeared estranged - and Delan's closest relationship was with his youngest sister Renalda.

The death of his parents in 3499 meant that Delan became Lord Anderon.  He quickly extablished a reputation for liberalism - one of his first actions was to free the Anderon slaves.  He was also appointed First Minister by Duke Atropos; initially this was to cope with the emergency occasioned by the tornado that struck Aquila, killing many (Delan's parents among them), but later his competence and outstanding abilities resulted in the post being made permenant.

At the same time, Delan met Bea Kennington, a beautiful widow (her husband died in the tornado), with a young son Jack.  They fell in love and were married - despite the fact that Bea's status as a citizen made her an unsuitable match in many people's eyes.  Subsequently, they have had four children of their own - Giulian, Renalda, Rosalor and Gallfrey.

On the death of Duke Atropos, Delan became Regent, having been named as such by the dying Duke.  He has remained loyal to the line of Duke Atropos by his second wife, Lilly Clover, although the rival claimant is his own sister's son.

Yet, as the two Decumas' 25th birthdays approach, many wonder what the powerful Regent will do ...

Bianca (Bea), Lady Anderon

More information about Bea will appear shortly.

Lord Giulian Anderon

Giulian is the eldest son of Lord and Lady Anderon (Delan and Bianca), and thus the current heir of Anderon.

When he was five years old, Giulian got caught in an assassination attempt on his father that overturned the carriage in which Delan was riding.  Giulian was on the box with the coachman at the time (he was interested in horses and driving even then) and was flung a considerable distance when the vehicle went over.  He survived the resultant injuries, but the worst of them, a fractured pelvis and smashed hip joint that included nerve damage, plus complications due to infection, left his right leg largely useless.  Giulian did eventually re-learn to walk, after a fashion and with the aid of a leg brace and crutches, but the mobility thus gained is limited.

Fortunately Giulian is extremely bright and was able to take to the life of the mind as some compensation for the crippling of his body, but especially as he grew out of childhood, independence has become a serious issue for him.  He has a drive to excel, even if he hasn't quite decided what it is he wants to excel in yet.  In view of his position he has in recent years concentrated his formal studies on history, politics, and economics, in which he takes regular classes at the University. He loves horses and is an excellent whip, often driving his own custom-built curricle.  Also interested in art, he is rarely without a sketchbook and pencil.

Jack Kennington- Anderon

Jack Kennington was born to Jerrold Kennington and Bianca 'Bea' Salter Kennington. After Jerold's death in the great tornado that tore through Aquila, his mother remarried, making him Delan Anderon's stepson. Unbeknownst to Jack, his real father is a half sibling of Delan's, Jay Knight.

Jack endured many trials in his young life, being buried alive when a tornado dismantled his school, the death of his father in the same storm, hiding during the violence of the Bahlmis coup, the kidnapping and disappearance of his adored Aunt Renalda, witnessing the assassination of Duke Atropos on the Cathedral stairs, being kidnapped (with his childhood friend Salla Lasse) by the Aquilian underground, standing helplessly by as his brother Giulian painfully struggled to regain the use of his legs...

Still, Jack managed to grow up happy and well adjusted, loyal to friends and devoted to family. Jack attended the University and did a stint in the military. He enjoys the freedom of his position in the Anderon household immensely. Being a respected member of a Noble house, and still just being Mr.Kennington has it's advantages. .

Nira Anderon
Born: 3472

Lady Nira Anderon was the oldest daughter of the Anderons. The pinnacle of the family ambition seemed reached when Nira married the young Duke Atropos. However, although Nira achieved a reputation for piety and good works, becoming extremely popular with the people and known as 'the Good Duchess', the marriage was without issue, and Atropos eventually set Nira aside so that he could marry his pregnant mistress, Lady Lilly Clover.

Unbeknownest to either of them, however, Nira too was pregnant, and subsequently gave birth to her son Decuma. Some people hold that Nira's son, not Lilly's, is the true heir.

Nira susequently married Farquar, Lord Lagoran, the man with the most evil reputation on Aquila - although this was somewhat mitigated by his leading role in recovering Jack Kennington-Anderon and Salla Lasse from the kidnap attempt in 3501.

Jay Knight
Born: 3467

Jay Knight is the illeginate half-brother of Delan, Lord Anderon. Forced to flee Aquila at the age of sixteen when Drostin Anderon began eliminating his mis-begotten siblings, he made a life for himself off-world, eventually qualifying as a space pilot. He returned to Aquila for his mother's last illness, and after her death spent time with the Salter family - Josh and Bea. He and Bea fell in love, but their relationship ended when he learned she had agreed to marry a wealthy older citizen - Gerrold Kennington - and Jay left Aquila for a second time - not realising that Bea was, in fact, pregnant with his son Jack.

He returned to Aquila eight years later, initially determined to challenge his father - but discovered his father was dead and Delan was now Lord Anderon, and married to Bea. Jay attempted to win Bea back but she chose Delan.

Jay turned for comfort to
Millaria Windhaven, the beautiful, abused daughter of a noble House.  She had become his mistress - yet it had always been clear that the ambiguities of her position on Aquila had troubled her - and in the end she had left him.  Knight had hunted her with increasing desperation; it had been Delan, who had long warned him that Millaria had been placed in an impossible position by Knight's behaviour, who had pointed out the obvious truth - Millaria had clearly fled to a convent.

By then, other events had overtaken him.  Jay and Delan's younger sister Renalda, travelling to Earth with Gallfrey, the new Aquilan Ambassador to the Imperium, had been seized by space pirates from the Efrosian ship on which she was travelling. Jay agreed to return to space to search for any trace of Renalda and Gallfrey.

But that was twenty-five years ago - and Knight has never returned.

Read more of Jay's story and his decision to leave Aquila.

Drostin Anderon (believed deceased)
Born: 3465

More information about Drostin (and the mysterious Raisa, shown with him in this picture) will appear shortly.

Lady Renalda Anderon (later Carlysle) (believed deceased)
Born: 3480

Renalda Anderon was Delan's youngest sister, and enjoyed a very close relationship with her elder brother. He comforted her through the ending of her first love affair - with Raphael de los Santos. Later she innocently attracted the attention of Atropos, Duke of Aquila, who assaulted her. For her own protection, Delan decided she must leave Aquila and so sent her away with aide de camp, Lieutenant Loric Carlysle, and his friend (and former slave) Gallfrey, who was travelling to Earth on an Efrosian ship to take up his post as Ambassador to the Imperium.

During the course of the voyage,
the ship was invaded by space pirates who seemed to be duisguised as Imperial troops. Renalda, Loric and Gallfrety were taken prisoner - and have never been seen or heard from since.

Korine
Born 1450

Korine was born a slave on the Anderon estates. She rose high in the household, and was eventually freed. She has been housekeeper at Anderon House for over thirty years now, and is fiercely loyal to the family. Although she was never fond of Drostin, she has always given unquestioning love and support to Delan, Nira and Renalda (even when Delan and Nira are at odds with each other).

Gallfrey of Anderon (believed deceased)
Born 1463

Like Korine, Gallfrey was born a slave in the Anderon houseold. From an early age, his role was to serve the young Delan Anderon - and Gallfrey rapidly realised that this meant defending him from the cruel (even, on occasion, murderous) attacks from Delan's older brother, Drostin. As the boys were growing up, Gallfrey was more than Delan's slave - he was his protector, and his friend.

When Delan entered the seminary, Gallfrey apparently disappeared from Aquila. He returned a year or so later, having seemingly been offworld. He entered the seminary as a lay brother, but when news reached Aquila (as it did shortly afterwards) of Drostin's death in an accident on Earth, Gallfrey accompanied Delan when he left the seminary, and resumed his position as Delan's slave - and righthand man.

During old Lord Anderon's lifetime, Gallfrey remained a slave, but as soon as he did, Delan freed Gallfrey and - by now First Minister to Duke Atropos - he offered the post of Second Minister to Gallfrey - a position Gallfrey filled superbly. Eventually, when the summons came for a new ambassador to Earth, rather than Delan fulfilling that role, Gallfrey took his place.

On his journey to Earth, Gallfrey took his new wife, Maple. Everyone - including Delan - believed that the ex-slave had fallen in love with Atropos's slave assistant. Only Gallfrey and Maple knew that he had gleaned her secret - that she was actually the secret twin sister of Atropos.

They travelled to Earth on an Efrosian ship, with Lieutenant Loric Carlysle, Renalda Anderon, the Efrosian Ambassador Tyrr'l and Xanda de Corven. During the course of the voyage to Earth, however, the ship was invaded by space pirates who seemed to be duisguised as Imperial troops. Renalda, Loric and Gallfrety were taken prisoner - and have never been seen or heard from since.
