History of the House

Farquar, Lord Lagoran
Born: 3467
As a young man Lord Farquar had a reputation for being
a rake, a fop, and for being a general all
round-debauched ne'er-do-well. He had a reputation
for carousing, whoring, and gambling, facts that are
all the more understandable, as one of his boyhood
friends was Drostin Anderon. But even after Drostin
had left Aquila, Lord Farquar continued taking drink,
opium, and had a reputation for both murder and
rapine. Of course this did not only earn him the
disgust of the well-mannered Aquilans, but also a
certain attractive roguishness that is particular to
malcontents.
After the death of his father, Lord Jolyon Lagoran,
Farquar became master of all he surveyed and these
activities continued - the name Lagoran became a
byword for all that was evil and debauched, a
reputation that remains with him today.
As Lord of House Lagoran:
Far from being the mindless painted fop that people
believed, Lagoran possessed a reptilian cunning and an
astute grasp of Aquilan politics and economics -
traits that had been honed down the generations in the Lagoran family. The House trait is prudence, and so
with Lord Lagoran, he plays the game, slowly, taking each move forward or set back as just another twist in
the overall competition. He likes games, he likes to
play.
Motivations:
Lagoran wants to rule Aquila, if not him, then the
Lagoran family, and despite what you may have read in
the history about Lagoran, this has been the long-term
aim of the family since they bought - yes bought - the
name and title of Lagoran. Lord Lagoran's legacy to
his family will be to position it such that it will
one day be in position to control the coronet,
directly or indirectly.
His marriage to Nira was a stunning political coup for
Lagoran, and he has been able to influence the upbringing of Decuma Anderon Maun. Again, he is close
to one of the 'darker' Anderons.
His declaration of his sister Morine as his heir was
due to the fact that Lord Lagoran is unable to
reproduce, he is the last in his line, and "Unless my
damn sister breeds." He is aware that House Lagoran
ends with his death. Of course the inability to
produce children was a positive boon in his wild
youth, where he could make love with no worry of a
bastard appearing at his door, however, as he gets
older, the serious consequences of this situation have
hit home. Unless Morine has a child, all the work of
Lagorans down the centuries is lost.
Nira, Lady Lagoran, former Duchess of Aquila
Born: 3472
Lady Nira Anderon was the oldest daughter of the Anderons. The pinnacle of the family ambition seemed reached when Nira married the young Duke Atropos. However, although Nira achieved a reputation for piety and good works, becoming extremely popular with the people and known as 'the Good Duchess', the marriage was without issue, and Atropos eventually set Nira aside so that he could marry his pregnant mistress, Lady Lilly Clover.
Unbeknownest to either of them, however, Nira too was pregnant, and subsequently gave birth to her son Decuma. Some people hold that Nira's son, not Lilly's, is the true heir.
Nira susequently married Farquar, Lord Lagoran, the man with the most evil reputation on Aquila - although this was somewhat mitigated by his leading role in recovering Jack Kennington-Anderon and Salla Lasse from the kidnap attempt in 3501.
Lady Morine Lagoran
Born: 3479
Morine Lagoran is the only sister of Farquar, Lord Lagoran, and consequently his heiress. She has had a notorious past - and shows every inclination to continue it into the present. An erstwhile mistress of Duke Atropos, she is believed to have acted as a spy for him. However, she began a passionate and unwavering devotion to Nira, then the cast off wife of Atropos, when they were both captured by rogue slavers. After their escape, Morine shared Nira's exile in a remote Hoberty farmhouse, and then returned with her to the city shortly before Atropos' second marriage and subsequent assassination. Her devotion to Nira has never wavered - although she is rummoured to have taken a variety of male lovers, including Demetreus, Lord Windhaven.
Now, however, she is aware that if she is to consolidate her position as tyhe Lagoran heir, she needs to marry soon and produce the necessary child - preferably a son.
