Welcome to Cheron:
Cheron ... a world of deep quiet forests, of soft green valleys and
peaceful blue seas. Where moutains rear to the clouds, and their snow
caps gleam in the sunlight. A world of quiet villages, huddling in
the folds of hills ... a world of medieval technology that should be
ruled by wise and beneficient rulers ...
But isn't.
Five hundred years ago, Cheron was settled ... a time that is not so
much lost in the past ... as deliberately expunged from the minds of
those who settled there ... the talented ones.
They had been settled there for a purpose ... the ones from many
planets and cultures ... all with one thing in common ... their psi
rating.
Despised and outcast in their native worlds, they had been brought to
Cheron together ... their past lives erased and instead given images
of a peaceful, idyllic life on this kindly pastoral world. But five
hundred years have passed ... and it has all gone wrong.
For Cheron is an experiment turned nightmare ... a world that has gone
almost wholly to the Dark Side.
Now it is ruled by the Witch Queen .... an evil woman who has
conquered all the world ... except the high moutains and Athlon ...
one small kingdom. The King of Athlon she slew in battle, and now
the hopes of Cheron rest on the slender shoulders of his sixteen year
old son Hugh. But his two closest advisors (his Uncle and a Wise
Woman) have died mysteriously ... his beloved aunt has
disappeared ... and her husband has gone to seek her.
Hugh has decided to risk one last desperate throw ... among the papers
he found when searching his late Uncle's study was one that contained
a reference to a mysterious people who lived in the high mountains,
who guarded the sword of crystal that could draw down fire from the
heavens. This alone, Hugh believes, might save Athlon ... and even
Cheron. He decides to draw together a small company of people,
variously talented and gifted ... to send them on a desperate
dangerous quest, through the heart of the Witch Queen's land ....
Special powers in Cheron
This will be a thread that allows psi. The way it will work is that
you will choose ONE psi power as ONE of your characteristics. Where
you place this wil determine how strong it is. If you make it your
PRIMARY characteristic, you can use it THREE times in a plot day. If you make it your SECONDARY characteristic, you can use it TWICE in a plot day.
If you make it your TERTIARY characteristic, you can use it ONCE in a plot day.
NB ... not everyone needs to be aware of and/or using their talent at the start.
The psi powers we have determined on are, so far:
Telempathy (heightened ability to read another's emotiona and predict their thoughts - nb NOT telepathy as such
Speaking with and /or summoning animals
Speaking with and /or summoning birds
Speaking with and /or summoning plant spirits
Speaking with and /or summoning the dead (Witch Queen only)
Translocation of self
Translocation of another ... you will need a very good excuse for either of these
Ability to determine others' psi powers (Hugh only)
Invisibility
Insubstantiality
Rain-making
Fire-starting
Rock-moving
Weather control
Shape-shifting (human)
Shape-shifting (animal)
"Borrowing" - i.e. projecting one's mind into an animal
