Simon
Simon believed for a long time that he was accursed, the child
of a mortal mother and vampiric father. Still sometimes naive, still
unworldly, yet educated and intelligent, his learning curve since
leaving the innocence of his childhood home has been steep, and
shows no sign of slacking off. At least initially, he is the servant
of the Lady of Karadon, a duty which he is often reminded of.

| Jenever |
|
Jenever is tall and straight as a swordblade, her form lean and
tightly muscled, her complexion clear and perfect, skin slightly
more golden than olive. Her hair is long, thick and perfectly straight,
that pale color between blond and white. Her eyes are large, slightly
tilted and of a cold iron-gray color. Her eyelashes and eyebrows
are naturally dark, despite her blond hair, leading one to believe
her hair may be dyed. Her lips are full and slightly sinister, her
teeth slightly pointed.
She wears no makeup, and usually dresses in silver (colored) chainmail
with accents of rubies and gold, a red cloak, and bearing a heavy
mace,and a long flail that resembles a metal cat-onine-tails.
Her symbol is a flaming skull with ruby eyes. Her colors are red
and silver
|
|
It is common knowledge that Jenever is a warrior and a battle leader
from a Shadow called S'jaiteh. Those she trusts she will even tell
that she was the Warlord and Empress of that Shadow, which she believes
now gone for ever. |

| Opal |

Lady, Mademoiselle, Owner of Varas
Opal is slender, almost petite, with platinum blond hair, green
eyes, and fair skin. She is a graceful, elegant woman, often wearing
pale colors and the finest of jewelery.
Her demeanor is cool, her glance piercing. She prefers not to resort
to physical violence. Rather, she will usually find a more subtle
method for solving difficult problems.
Little is known about Lady Opal before she came to Varas. By all
accounts, she was a young woman, not quite old enough for marriage.
Still, within a few years the Lady Opal had made a killing at the
Crystal Markets and had established for herself a tidy fortune.
As she appraoched a marriageble age, she had constructed for herself
a beautiful residence on the slopes of Mt. Eris, giving her a spectacular
view of the local countryside, to the edge of the Rust desert. In
the years she was with us, she had earned the respect and devotion
of the lands between Mt. Eris and the Sea of Rust, that impenetrable
desert at the edge of our lands.
|
|
Since her establishment in our lands, the Lady Opal had become a
formitable sponsor. From opening new mines, to sponsoring young
artists, to personally assisting with farm duties among her people,
she proved herself a most capable patron. Villages were more than
willing to petition Lady Opal for assistance, and it was not long
before she was in a position to acquire the mineral rights to all
the lands visible from her magnificent manor.
It was supposed the Lady Opal would enter into marriage with Earl
Seymore of Austerix once the Earl had secured his divorce. But fate
intervened, and on the eve of her expected engagement Lady Opal
was forced to travel north with The Monseigneur Flaubon when she
received word her foster father was dying. The citizens of Varas
hope the Lady Opal will return to them once her duties with her
family are complete.

Tobias
Tobias comes from money, and the best kind at that: old
money. He is well-groomed, well-attired, well-mannered, all attributes
that were beaten into him at a young age. His features are not strong,
and while not repulsive, are easily forgotten in a crowd.

| Lazarus |
Lazarus is handsome enough, by most standards; his build
is light, his features are sharp, his hair thick and dark, and his
pale skin sets off his almost milky blue eyes.
|
|
|
He usually wears a full cape over loose fitting clothes, all in
dark colors, and his trademark wide brimmed Padre hat.
A studious man, Lazarus is fascinated by anything relating to theology,
misticism, and similar topics. He is frequently found in deep meditation,
lost in his own thoughts. A nightowl, he frequently sleeps during
much of the day, but is not one to go out carousing and wenching.
He lives a disciplined life which includes regular exercise and
an almost spiritual devotion to his Marital Arts. Some, ignorant
of Lazarus' abilities, have foolishly made fun of his skill at knitting,
sewing, and embroidery. His sewing skills could easily gain him
employment in the field, if he ever so wished.

|
His Shadow of origin is Zeypher, a windswept grassland spotted
by high plateaus. Daylight in Zeypher lasts for only about eight
hours, buffered by an hour of dawn and dusk. The natives of Zeypher
live in several small towns and cities scattered mostly atop the
various plateaus. Elders, chosen differently in each settlement,
are sent four times a year to a special place located atop the highest
of the plateaus.
The Spring, (or "spring of creation") is a place of spiritual
import for most of Zeypher. The Spring is believed to have magical
influence over injuries, fertility, and age. A beautiful stone garden
surrounds the Spring, and a low wooden building stands close by;
the building is the official meeting place for the Elders.
Very superstitious, the people of Zeypher practice various rituals
in their daily life in order to counteract the forces of the strange
and unknown. Dreams play in important role in their culture, and
there are many who try and interpret dreams for their hidden meanings.
The recent events in his life have greatly changed Lazarus and
his behavior. He still attempts to keep some discipline in his life,
which includes regular exercise and a strong devotion to his Marital
Arts, but has given up much of his spiritual side... perhaps he
has become jaded from his awakening.
From the Lennox thread:
He introduced himself as Mr. Long, and did not offer his hand to
shake. His long hair had been braided into a dark ponytail, his
beard was trimmed into a stylish goatee, and his mustache was neatly
waxed. Dressed in a green satin shirt and black slacks, he padded
barefoot back into the grand living room...

| Dot |
|
| She's kinda short, ya know? Something like 5 foot,
and a little heavy for her height. Her hair is black, her eyes a strange,
variable blue. The colors of her clothes are conservative, nothing
flashy. She is often seen in a black t-shirt and worn blue jeans.
She also carries a backpack and a belt with a small pouch attached
to it. |
|
|
Dot's home Shadow is Bellpit, a world of excavation and forest.
Dot has a particular talent for riddling out the devices uncovered
in her home shadow. She has even been able to repair them.

| Nora |
| Slender and petite with dark expressive eyes, full lips
and raven hair, Nora looks younger than her 24 years. Her movements
are restrained, as if she is trying to keep all her cat-like grace
in as small a space as possible and prefers wearing black because
it makes it easier for her to blend into a crowd.
Nora doesn't talk much about herself or her life in Cannes - a
place of glittering cities and rolling hills around the blue jewel
of the Mediterranean. When she can be pulled into conversation,
she is just as likely to be flippant as serious. Animals seem to
be drawn to her, a fact that she accepts with resigned inevitability.
If she had a choice, she would always be near the sea.
Currently Nora is the reluctant traveling partner of Lazarus after
he pretty much kidnapped her from a hotel in Monte Carlo.

| Haakon (deceased) |
|
| Burly and handsome; consistently rumpled in dress and
appearance, but in a ruggedly good-looking sort of way. Adapts quickly
and easily to locally appropriate modes of dress when traveling. His
favorite color is a forest green shading ever so slightly towards
blue. |
 |
Brought up in Nordquist, a winter Shadow - cold but sunny, he had
ots of
skiing, tracking, dog handling - and gained forestry skills. He
carves ice (and can carve wood and other things too ... his hobby
- and he's enormously good).
He was the son of the Second Prince - not directly in line for
the
throne of his area of Shadow, but definitely in the ranks of the
rulers. Of course there were responsibilities; he had to sit in
judgement at the Hall,
and he also had to lead his clan group in battle against invaders
... both
on land, and by sea (longships).
Haakon died in Karadon, early on*, fighting the Hunter,
and allowing the others to escape to the freedom of Lohengrin.

* Brian, very kindly, created Haakon as a super
NPC to help launch the game, and made a shocking (and secretly planned)
withdrawal.

| Morgan (deceased) |
|
Morgan's eyes are so pale a blue that they resemble ice. He's unbelievably
handsome, in a cold, marble-like way. His beauty is that of a statue,
not a living person.
He wears a heavy hauberk of crimson enameled chain, covered by
a buff coloured coat with metal plates sewn into it. with heavy
gauntlets - also crimson enameled - on his hands. His flame coloured
hair flares out behind him like a short cloak, falling well past
his shoulders.
Held negligently in his left hand is a shortened lochaber axe.
Strapped to his right arm is a large kite shield. Held at three-quarters
view, it shows a crimson rose bisected by a lochaber axe, on a field
of azure.
|
|
|
He's 6'5" tall, and 225 lbs.
He was killed in his own Shadow, trying to put right the damage
he believed he had done. Returning, he found he was worshipped as
a god, and all his acts of evil were seen as guidelines for people.
When he tried to warn people, they killed him.
Morgan was played by Stuart.
